Ingrid Blomgren, MBA, NHA

Your very own long term care coach

Hello, I’m glad you’re here – it’s a pleasure to meet you!

Personal

My fondness for caring for the elderly started in my early teens, when I recall being sent across the street by my Mom to help our neighbor, Mr. Leonard, with house cleaning and gardening chores.  He had a very large vegetable garden** and a vegetable stand at the edge of his yard where neighbors could pull up in their car to buy fresh vegetables and to have quick chat and laugh. Mr. Leonard was a kind, generous man, loved by many for his quirky sense of humor.  Through the years, I discovered that our elders are genuine in telling their life stories, and delight in sharing their life lessons, spun in wisdom, to those who are willing to listen.  Helping and listening to their stories, to me, were reward enough. But to see the gratitude in their eyes was for me the most impactful. Little did I know this was the first hint of my calling, expressed in a rewarding career to come.

So what brought me to developing Your Long Term Care Coach and this first course?

Like millions of others, it was a humbling experience when I became a casualty of down-sizing by a company from which I thought I would eventually retire.  As the saying goes, when one door closes another opens. The blessing in disguise was that my eyes were opened to put my passion and 30 years of long term care experience to a greater good and to reach more people than I had in my job - the development of Your Long Term Care Coach and the first course SNF Right Now!™

Few things mean more to me than being able to help people when they’re trying to deal with the agonizing process of placing a Loved One in a long term care facility. I’m honored to be able to work with you; to help you quickly and expertly navigate the long term care maze.

My spare time – as you know it’s hard to come by these days!

The older I get the more I value time with family and friends. My favorite activities include playing doubles tennis and scuba diving with my brother.

Professional

It’s no exaggeration to say that I’ve devoted my entire professional career to long term care. I’m a licensed nursing home administrator (NHA) with over 30 years of executive level operations and financial experience in senior living and skilled nursing facilities (SNFs).

My experience includes:

  • Multi-site operations management including rehabilitation services, nursing home administration, assisted living administration, and clinic services.
  • Opened and operated a 180-bed skilled nursing facility in New Jersey, my home state
  • Opened a Medicare certified Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility
  • Executive health care consultant for a national accounting firm
  • Regional Director for a national rehabilitation company
